Rich Nesbit opened the meeting a little after 7 PM. Followed by the pledge of Allegiance.

Rich reminded everyone to check in on the listing in the front of the room.

Peggy Higgins took a minute to describe the Raffle prizes for the evening.

Silver Dollar
Mystery Prize
50/50

Peggy presented Scott Robbins with a nice coin for his work on planning and stewarding the Saturdays outings at different parks each month.

Rich then explained how the “Finds Table” works and asked everyone who brought finds to make sure they put their finds on the front table and received their ticket for the drawing.

After looking at the packed room, Rich mention that the club may need a bigger room to meet in and would check with Idaho Pizza if we could find a night where we could use both of the rooms there. Possible changes to our meeting night may occur. Stand by for any updates.

Larry Marler gave a Treasurer report ending 31 January 2022 as follows;

In Bank December 2021: $3,885.14
Jan income: $298.00
Total: $4,183.14

Presentation on Laser Imaging, Detection, and Ranging (LIDAR) was given by Colter Young. Colter explained how LIDAR can be used to create a digital 3-D representation of areas on the earth. He displayed what an area around Miss Lucy looks like from space and how few details can be seen on the ground. his next slide displayed a LIDAR scan of the same area and you can now clearly see roads, tailing piles, mine cuts on mountainsides, and the marks of the dredges where they worked for the river beds. It was a great presentation on a subject that can help find places to metal detect and mine gold. More information can be found on Colter’s website – MiningMagnets. Colter also has a YouTube channel.

Rich spoke about the club having a seeded hunt at Miss Lucy for Father’s day. The club needs people to help with this activity and anyone who wishes to help can contact the club by emailing GSMDCMAIL@gmail.com or contacting Davey Allen at (760)371-5709.

Rich also noted that the club needs assistance with future outings and presentations and is looking for anyone who has ideas and time to help.

A 10-minute break was taken for anyone needing to buy tickets for the Raffles, place their finds on the front table, or other activities as needed.

After the break, Davey Allen presented part 2 of his Research – How and Where to Hunt. You can find the handout on the club’s website.

Rich then noted that the club does Classifieds with its newsletter, so send in your want to sell and what items you need to the GSMDCMAIL@gmail.com.

Peggy raffled off the following:

An 1890 Morgan silver dollar and four silver dimes, which Barbra Nesbit won.
